Breitensport

Breitensport competitions target all dancers from beginner level to a more advanced level, e. g. current or former participants of courses at dance schools, university courses, Breitensport classes in clubs or similar.

All couples will dance together in 3 dances in the qualification round. During the qualification rounds, dancers will qualify for one out of four Breitensport classes (Amateurs (lowest), Professionals, Masters and Champions (highest)) depending on their level of dancing.

Every dancer who has reached one of the first three places at least twice in the highest possible Breitensport class during the last three tournaments of an ETDS (champions in Aachen 2017, masters in Kaiserslautern 2017, masters in Kiel 2018) is blocked for the next two tournaments of an ETDS in this corresponding discipline in the Breitensport tournament. These dancers will be allowed to dance in the CloseD tournament.

A blind date program will be held on Friday and Saturday evening for you to find a dancing partner. Blind dating for Breitensport class is not mandatory, however it is strongly recommended. You will receive more points for “the Mouse” competition if participating in blind dating; and you will have more fun choosing your dance partner.

All Breitensport class dancers can compete in CloseD class if they choose so. However, it is only possible to compete in a single competition per standard, and a single competition in latin. Meaning, one cannot compete in standard for both Breitensport and CloseD; or for latin competition in both Breitensport and CloseD.

Those who need to dance Open class in the other discipline, can not participate in Breitensport.
